The Nature- and Geopark TERRA.vita received the title "Qualitäts-Naturpark" (Quality Nature Park), given by the Verband Deutscher Naturparke.

TERRA.vita: TERRA stands for “earth,” vita stands for “life” and the history of life.
TERRA.vita is a Nature Park. And a Geopark. It’s a region that invites you to come rest and relax in the outdoors. Before you know it, you will also find yourself engaged with the past, sinking into the history of this fascinating landscape.
In this area, you can find 300 million years of earth history documented and preserved better than most other places. The incredible diversity of this landscape derives from its continual transformation – each era has left behind its traces, be it ancient seabeds folded into steep crests, tropical forests pressed to anthracite, or entire mountain ranges pushed into existence by mighty glaciers. It seems hard to believe just how much the rocks can tell us about the past.
And today? As a Nature Park, we ensure that nature is treated as it should be, but without barring man from experiencing its beauty. We lead you to all the exciting corners, be it on foot or on bike. Together with our partners, we maintain a network of hiking and biking paths that allow you to experience this landscape. From dinosaur routes to the site of the Varus Battle, from the landscape park Piesberg to the Dörenth Cliffs – there are plenty of destinations.
